Support for Specialized Transport Systems leads the List on New and Updated Features in AutoTURN 7

The newest version of Transoft Solutions’ CAD based swept-path software has added features and enhanced functionality that will be demonstrated in a series webcasts on February 25, March 3, and March 10, 2010.

“We’re excited to be releasing this version of AutoTURN. This is a swept-path software that has traditionally had more transportation engineering know-how and research behind it than others within the industry and we’ve worked hard to put more into this version,” said Product Manager Mike Frost. “Designers will benefit from the product of that research in a more capable software that now includes support for specialty transport vehicles.”

AASHTO Joins U.S. Sen. Boxer in Support of Critical New Jobs Bill

A new Senate bill to extend funding for existing highway and transit programs through December 31, 2010 drew strong support today from John Horsley, Executive Director of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials. HIRE, Hiring Incentives to Restore Employment Act, would also transfer approximately $20 billion from the General Fund to the Highway Trust Fund (HTF) to keep both the Highway and Transit Accounts solvent. The U.S. Department of Transportation estimates that the HTF could run short of funds by June, if no action is taken.

The American Highway Users Alliance (The Highway Users) called on Congress to reject provisions in the Obama Administration’s FY2011 budget proposal that would divert $200 million in highway taxes normally distributed to the states for Administration earmarking. The budget proposes that these highway user fees be redirected into a new “livable communities” program, administered in Washington DC and earmarked by federal government officials.

Autodesk buys former Transoft Solutions Partner

Autodesk, Inc. announced that it has completed the acquisition of Dynamite VSP and Dynamite SIM visualization software products and related assets. The products were purchased from 3AM Solutions, a UK-based privately owned technology company that develops visualization software for civil infrastructure. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
