This efficiency from ParkCAD allowed us to provide our client with timely and accurate information that helped them arrive at an informed decision.
– The Transpo Group
ParkCAD provides users with superior control and flexibility to help make parking project tasks easier. For engineers and architects, designs of initial parking area configurations to determine feasibility and aesthetics can be used right through to the final development phase.
SUPPORT FOR ARCS IN THE DESIGN OF PARKING AREAS
Lot boundaries can now include arcs for the creation of perimeter rows or for the generation of curved access or internal drive aisles. This allows the user to solve more complex parking scenarios through the software.
MAXIMIZATION PARKING FUNCTIONALITY
Let ParkCAD solve the parking puzzle of which row layout, row rotation, and shifted row position produces the maximum number of parking spaces within the parking boundary; a historical list grows (to a user specified maximum) as different test iterations are performed to indicate the row alignments with the highest parking yields.
UPDATED AND IMPROVED DESIGN MANAGER
Save, update, and recall multiple design iterations of the parking layouts. Manage different plans in a single drawing for printing or presentation, continue to develop parking proposals that meet client requirements, and compare designs to be able to identify those that minimize land use and maximize available parking or green space.
MINIMIZE LOT FOOTPRINT
Reduce the parking site footprint size by having the software update the lot to adjust perimeter boundaries based on oversized drive aisles. This allows the user to minimize the amount of paved surfacing in order to leave room on the site for green areas.
DISTRIBUTE AS CENTER PATHS
Distribute extra drive aisle space by applying center paths to selected parking rows. This is an alternate method to minimizing the lot footprint, wherein the excess space in a lot can be equally distributed between back to back stalls for additional walkways or landscaping space.
ADD ISLAND TREATMENTS
ParkCAD now comes with the ability to assign unique treatments (Concrete, Landscape, Painted) to custom or standard islands. Each island treatment is assigned its very own layer and can be independently reported in construction cost estimations.
MIX SMALL AND LARGE VEHICLE STALLS ON A ROW
Modify the design to maintain the same number of parking spaces with a mix of small and large car spaces, as well as providing for additional pervious surfacing for landscaping or water retention in “stall back” islands.
INTEGRATED PARKING OBJECT REPORTING
Use an intelligent combination of reporting functionality. With Quantity Takeoff Reporting, lengths, areas, and quantities for all ParkCAD objects in the design can be determined. These objects can then have pricing assigned for Total Costs and Costs per Stall estimates.
SIMPLE PARKING SITE SETUP
No more time wasted having to pick each individual parking element. Just select groups of parking rows and lots to define parking for a site and use it to calculate percentages of accessibility parking, up-to-the second stall counts, and Quantity Takeoff Reporting.
PARKING EXCLUSION AREAS
Design parking space where you need it. Select and edit geometric shapes within or across the lot where parking should not be generated. Exclusion areas can be used for structures (buildings, light standards, additional mid-island shapes) and for iterations of drive aisle and entrance placement.
ACCESSIBILITY PARKING OPTIONS
Design, develop, and maintain accessibility parking (including guidelines, symbols, and vehicle classes) based on your lot's needs. A 'Heads Up' view displays current count and percentages of accessible stalls notifying if regulations are met. Additionally, set and define access aisle (left, right, shared) for vehicle loading.
EFFORTLESS PARKING EDITING
Powerful editing features reduce the downtime of having to manually update new design changes to the existing parking layout. The Update Lot feature allows lots to be resized to meet adjusted boundaries while retaining prior customization. As well, excess drive aisle space can be distributed evenly between rows.
CREATE CUSTOM PARKING STALLS
Easily define and uniquely mark each type of specialized parking stalls (i.e. courtesy parking, police, taxi/bus stands, shopping cart returns etc), with either default or customized symbols. These stalls are reported separately from standard stalls for quick site assessments.
PARKCAD OVERVIEW
Take a video tour of ParkCAD and learn how you can design any size parking site complete with arcs, custom stalls, rows, and islands to standard in only minutes.
TIME: 3:33 minutes
ACCESSIBILITY STANDARDS
In this video, accessibility parking is selected to evaluate the required number needed in the overall parking layout. Regular stalls can be easily converted to accessible style stalls.
TIME: 2:49 minutes
PARKCAD DESIGN TOOLS
This video shows how users can generate and place parking rows based on different elements and points as well as instantly creating a parking lot from a selected boundary.
TIME: 2:33 minutes
PARKING REPORTING FEATURES
This video demonstrates the different reporting tools found in ParkCAD. Stall count types can be totaled by number and percentage and saved to a spreadsheet. Quantity Takeoff report can be generated summarizing parking objects and associated unit costs.
TIME: 3:12 minutes
PARKING STALL EDITING USING PARKCAD
Learn how to modify stall type and change parking row traffic flow direction. Easily add wheel stops and sequential numbering to stalls within rows.
TIME: 2:02 minutes
PARKING OBJECT ADVANCE EDITING WITH PARKCAD
Using advanced editing functions, designers can quickly convert regular stalls into custom stall types or even additional mid-islands to protect access to entry/exit points. End islands can have their dimensions changed to fit drive aisle space.
TIME: 3:26 minutes
UPDATING PARKING SITE DIMENSIONS
This video shows how parking rows within an existing site can be easily updated to include a central pathway. Extra drive aisle space can also be uniformly redistributed in the parking site.
TIME: 1:45 minutes
PARKING EXCLUSION AREA
In this video, learn how an exclusion area can be generated to remove parking elements from a section within a design. In this exclusion area, users can add parking rows around the border as well as set adequate drive aisle space between the area and the nearest parking row.
TIME: 2:21 minutes
WORKING WITH PARKING STANDARDS
Parking design parameters and standards are discussed in this video. Users can select from an extensive list of different parking standard guidelines (ITE, AIA, ADA, ULI, etc).
