Turning Templates - Features and Compatiblity

Major Features in CAD Turning Templates

CAD turning templates are a technically superior, yet good cost point alternative to regular plastic vehicle templates. These electronic turning templates can be used in most CAD platform environments without any compatibility issues. Simply select the vehicle template you need, then place and rotate it within the drawing.

Vehicle Templates
  • Vehicle entry speed (V1a) into a roundabout is now calculated to approximate the entry speed based on deceleration rate specified in the design guideline
  • Individually control the offsets used in determining each fastest path. The offsets can also be applied globally to all paths
  • Analyze the exit radius (R3) and exit speeds (V3) while accounting for the circulating speed and acceleration distance based on FHWA research and NCHRP Report 572
  • Superelevation, speed differences and offsets from central island, median, and edges
Design Process
  • Templates can be imported directly into any CAD drawing and can then be moved, scaled, rotated, mirrored, and saved with the drawing
  • The templates can be easily manipulated and evaluated to expedite the design process
CAD Precision
  • Turning Templates 4.0 was developed using AutoTURN's Generate Template feature. AutoTURN's reliability has been verified by field tests and substantiated by independent agencies
  • In all cases, vehicle turn paths are based on a vehicle's minimum turn radii as determined from official documentation published by the AASHTO, CALTRANS, ILDOT, and TAC agencies
Turning Templates CAD Library
