These honours showcase how East Riding of Yorkshire Council and project partners are combining innovation, sustainability, and safety to help shape the future of UK roads.
Shortlisted in Five Categories at the Highways Awards
The Live Labs 2 video-analytics deployment, delivered through a partnership between East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Transoft Solutions, Local Transport Projects, and Clearview Intelligence, has been shortlisted for five categories at the Highways Awards 2025:

The project utilises advanced video analytics technology that employs Transoft’s AI and thermal imaging to deliver continuous, 24/7 analysis of all road users—vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists. By detecting conflicts and identifying when risks exceed safety thresholds, the system provides real-time insights that help shape safer, more sustainable roads.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council has taken the initiative to implement and expand upon this technology, adapting it specifically for UK roads, governance requirements, and public infrastructure needs. Through Live Labs 2, the system has been tested in real-world conditions from rural villages to complex junctions, where its data has directly influenced lighting strategies, road layouts, and risk mitigation measures.
Safety and Sustainability Working Together
