Insights and takeaways from the 2025 CANSO OSC Summit

AirTOP

Between January 28 – 30, 2025, Pier Ferraris and Tania Carrera Sampedro, AirTOP Product Managers at Transoft Solutions, attended the CANSO Operations Standing Committee (OSC) Annual Summit. The event, which took place in the NASA Ames Research Center, California, USA, brought together global experts to discuss the future of Air Traffic Management.

About the summit

CANSO’s Operations Program offers a key platform for addressing air traffic management (ATM) challenges and sharing best practices in operational and technical domains. By fostering collaboration, it aims to drive the adoption of innovative technologies and procedures aimed at enhancing global ATM performance. Additionally, the OSC brings together Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs) and key suppliers, to collaborate, align on priorities, and present unified positions to regulatory authorities, policymakers, and key industry stakeholders

Insights and takeaways

After a few informative days, Tania reflects on the agenda and key topics that shaped the 2025 OSC summit.

“The first day featured presentations and roundtable discussions on key ATM operational challenges. The second day was dedicated to CANSO workgroups, with Pier and I participating in the Air Traffic Flow Management (ATFM) and Airspace Optimization workgroups.

Topics covered ranged from Trajectory-Based Operations (TBO), sharing information between stakeholders to enhance flow management, to harmonizing procedures and processes among ANSPs and Airport Authorities. It was a rewarding experience to engage in discussions on both current and emerging industry topics, while also sharing our own insights.”

The efforts of the workgroups continue throughout the year and contribute to improvements and even recommendations to ICAO and other international bodies. Transoft looks forward to being part of more impactful discussions.
