Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) today announced that Transoft Solutions, Inc., has pledged $100,000 to the Diversity Scholars Program, which directly supports the education and development of African American, Native American, Alaskan, Hawaiian, or Hispanic/Latino heritage students pursuing degrees in transportation-related fields. ITE is pleased to welcome Transoft Solutions into its Legacy Society at the Visionary (highest) level.

“ITE’s Diversity Scholars Program grew out of the recognition that the transportation industry benefits from being a diverse community and understanding our role in fostering this diversity. Building a diverse next-generation workforce is vital to meeting the transportation needs of all community members and developing equitable mobility solutions to serve them,” said Jeff Paniati, ITE’s Executive Director and CEO.

Transoft’s donation enables ITE to endow a scholarship in their name annually for the next five years. Each recipient will receive $4,000 in tuition annually for up to five undergraduate years at a school with an ITE Student Chapter. Diversity Scholars participate in the ITE Student Chapter, are paired with a mentor near them, and are granted access to internships.

Milton Carrasco, President and CEO, Transoft Solutions, Inc., said, “I am extremely grateful for the support of ITE and to be in a fortunate position to help underrepresented candidates further their education in the field of transportation. As an immigrant, I have experienced many of the same challenges, and also benefited from the many opportunities a new country has to offer. The Diversity Scholars Program accelerates equality for our community, and I genuinely believe diversity and inclusion in our industry fosters greater innovation which enriches people’s lives.”
