The process of street redesign in order to enable safe access for all users usually incorporates bikeways to improve safety and encourage the use of alternative and sustainable means of transport. While most of these bikeways aren’t challenging for conventional bicycles, they could pose significant challenges to other types of cycles – especially those with carriage or cargo attachments.
This webinar will highlight some of the challenges bike-lane design can pose to non-conventional cycles or bicycle types, and demonstrate how to design bikeways to safely accomodate a variety of cycle types.
In this webinar, you will learn:
- How simulating bicycles and other sustainable transportation alternatives can help overcome design challenges when you need to deviate from design guidelines
- The different space requirements for the various types of cycles and other alternative transportation options
- The key elements for simulating bicycle type vehicles and how they influence their swept path
