The Regional Municipality of Durham in Ontario, Canada partnered with Transoft Solutions and True North Safety Group (TNS) to undertake an In-Service Road Safety Review at a total of six high-volume suburban intersections across the Region.
In this session we will explore the methodology and tools used to conduct these studies, including, conflict analysis data, vehicular speed data, and traffic volumes collected using Transoft Solutions’ automated road safety solution, BriskLUMINA. We will also discuss how key findings from the surrogate safety and video outputs impacted the recommended treatments offered by TNS

Alexandre is a Transportation Safety Engineer and Vice-Present of True North Safety Group. He has over twelve years of experience in the transportation consulting industry where his focus has been on road safety, collision analysis, traffic operations, and risk management. Alexandre has been involved in several road safety audits and in-service road safety reviews for various road jurisdictions throughout Canada. He is currently the president of CARSP.
Paul G. St-Aubin, P.Eng., Ph.D., Sr. Product Manager at Transoft Solutions in Montreal, Quebec
Paul is a Transportation Engineer and Sr. Product Manager for Transoft Solutions’ Transportation Safety division as well as a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Waterloo. He has over 10 years of experience developing, deploying, and over-seeing large-scale proactive road safety analysis technologies, including recent cutting-edge work in predictive collision course modelling. Paul specializes in several civil engineering and computer science topics, including road & safety design, driver behaviour, advanced collision detection, traffic control devices, vehicle automation, traffic data collection systems, computer vision, and ITS.
