What Makes AirTOP Unique

Visualize the problem - and the solution - in 2D and 3D

Seeing a problem often makes it easier to identify solutions. To test different scenarios and measure impacts, AirTOP accurately simulates all user-defined airport and airspace operations, as well as rules, multi-agent tasks, and behaviors. A single graphical user interface provides easy scenario editing, as well as viewing of simulations in 2D and 3D. AirTOP features an easy-to-use integrated map-based application containing GIS capabilities, to allow a flexible background display of scanned maps, aeronautical charts or vector data, weather data, satellite images, and elevation data.

Customize data for better decision-making

AirTOP data is highly customizable and can be extracted and visualized using hundreds of built-in reports, or exported as spreadsheets or SQL databases for presentation to stakeholders. Create videos of simulations to portray the impacts of different scenarios to decision-makers. The project management tool allows users to define scenario variants while avoiding data duplication.

Purchase only the modules you need

AirTOP modules integrate with one another on a common platform to offer a scalable feature set. An airport project may begin with the Airside Aircraft module, and as operations grow in size or complexity, additional modules such as Airside Vehicle or TMA/TRACON can be added to extend the software’s capabilities.

Make better, more-informed decisions

Complicated decisions involving multiple moving parts require more than a simple spreadsheet. When considering making changes to airport or airspace operations or infrastructure, AirTOP assists with informed decision making. Accurately model any airport or airspace operation, and run fast-time simulations of complex scenarios to test options and examine all the ‘what-ifs.’

Get the most out of airport and airspace operations and capacity

At an airport, delays of minutes and the associated knock-on effects can translate into impacts on the bottom line. AirTOP’s broad spectrum of tools allows users to assess how scenarios impact various aspects of airport operations, and how decisions play out in terms of costs and efficiency.

Making it possible to model congested traffic scenarios in situations where additional parking capacity is not an option.

Improved Features

Airside Aircraft and TMA/TRACON modules

  • RunwaySchedule now allows users to specify time-based separation lists, instead of only distance-based.

TMA/TRACON module

  • En-route waypoints can now be used in the Horizon Waypoint list of the RunwayArrivalSequence, allowing users to add flights to the sequence list before they enter the TMA/TRACON area.

Terminal module

  • Users can now set an «active» FloorLevel in GlobalAltitudeFilter, helping users isolate and work on a specific level of the terminal, reducing distractions and the risk of editing objects on unintended levels.
  • The SelectAirportforElevation model, a new parameter in the CreateBasicAirportSetupt wizard aligns a terminal’s 3D elevation with the airport’s real-world altitude. This provides a more accurate initial terminal set-up and reduces further adjustments.
  • Aircraft scheduled for towing after arrival now release their parking position as soon as the tow operation begins. Freeing up the parking position for other arriving flights, improves stand utilization and reflects real-world apron operations.

General

AirTOP 2025, Update 1 is now available, featuring minor functionality updates, bug fixes, and enhanced features. This update includes several improvements for better flight sequencing and separation.

Key features in this new release are:

Improved Features

En Route and TMA/TRACON modules

  • To enhance the coordination between En Route and TMA/TRACON, it’s now possible to slow down En-route aircraft to comply with TMA/TRACON restrictions. En-route aircraft now consider the minimum speed at the Initial Approach Fix (IAF) rather than always using the standard descent speed.

En Route module

  • The Waypoint Trail Separation function now supports an Aircraft Pair Condition, allowing more flexibility to apply different separation strategies.

TMA/TRACON module

  • Holdings can now also be defined by length and distance rather than just time-based durations. This allows better compliance with PNB/RNP procedures.
  • Reports on arrival/departure separations now include Separation at Waypoint, making it easier to check if Runway Dependencies are correctly defined.
  • The Runway Arrival Sequence can now exclude certain flights using the added flight plan condition. This ensures only relevant flights are included.
  • If a runway doesn’t have a set minimum separation for arriving aircraft, the Runway Flow Constraint (RFC) will take runway separation from other sources, to help ensure aircraft are separated correctly.

General

AirTOP 2025 is here, offering new and improved features to enhance the user experience. Highlights in this release include a DWG importer that saves time by allowing direct file imports without the need for prior conversion, and improved modeling possibilities for more realistic and accurate airport operations and analyses.

New reports in the Terminal module include a summary table for easier comparison against the IATA Level of Service (LoS), and 3D view enhancements provide smoother navigation when panning, rotating and zooming. An update to the Stand Off Positions feature in the Airside Aircraft module supports compliance with security requirements for towing and departing aircraft, and an improvement to the AIXM importer helps prevent duplication to reduce modeling time and simplify processes in the TMA/TRACON module.

Key features in this new release are:

New features

  • All modules | A streamlined workflow with DWG files now being imported directly into AirTOP without requiring any prior conversion to SHP format.
  • Terminal | A new set of automatically generated reports added to the AirTOP Reporter includes a summary table for comparing results against the IATA LoS.

Improved features

  • All modules | Save time by applying Flight Plan random variations automatically rather than manually every time a project is run.
  • All modules | It is now possible to review the changes that will be applied when importing an AIXM before the changes are committed, simplifying the model maintenance and workflow.
  • Terminal | 3D enhancements now include the Z component (altitude) in panning, rotating, and zooming commands, improving navigation for example with vertical exaggeration between floors.
  • Airside Aircraft | Departure flight plans can now use Stand Off Positions when their designated parking position is unavailable, and towing aircraft can use Stand Off Position when the target parking position is occupied. This supports operational practices of certain airports, particularly in the US, to comply with security requirements.
  • Airside Aircraft | The Decision Reporter now includes the Parking Position Selection Rule, providing a detailed log of which rules were rejected, and which was accepted during the parking position allocation process.
  • Airside Aircraft | Improved Push Back Clearance grants clearance based on first-come, first-served when gates are delayed by traffic, to help manage pushback clearances with greater precision.
  • Runway Capacity Analyzer | A new chart that shows the average Delay vs Throughput when selecting multiple analyses to improve results
  • Runway Capacity Analyzer | Columns for airline or callsign root have been added to improve the fleet mix generator.
  • TMA/TRACON | The improved AIXM importer prevents duplicate element creation (e.g., SIDLegs) by reusing existing objects, reducing modeling time and simplifying the process of updating existing models.
  • TMA/TRACON | Reorder aircraft in Runway Arrival Sequence by fixing the runway order during threshold calculations to match the order in the runway list
  • TMA/TRACON | A new graph in the Runway Flow Constraint object shows the percentage of rejected requests.

Network License

A Network license allows everyone within an office location to access the software from the company server with one person concurrently using at a time. Network licenses are not tied to a particular workstation or user. Multiple Network license seats can be purchased, and a license server keeps track of how many licenses are in use at one time. When Transoft’s software on a Network license starts, it first checks to see if a Network license is available to use. If so, a license is then checked out from the pool of licenses. When a user exits the application, the license gets checked back into the pool making it available to other users.
